Very cool place. We were disappointed when we moved from Tennessee where they had a renaissance knowing we wouldn't be able to go again. When we heard of this place, we we're thrilled. Much better experience at this place.
Worst experience I have ever had this year..
So much fun! Performers and patrons really put a lot of effort and money into their outfits and it's a blast to go just to check out and people watch. The acts are a bit cheesy and repetitive year over year, but they still go all out and it's appreciated! The free parking area is huge. Outside food and drinks technically are not permitted inside, but they have decent food and drinks inside for prices that are pretty standard for an attraction. Most vendors take cash, "Lady" Visa and Master Card. You can buy anything from homemade soaps, swords and a suit of armor. Just an overall great time!
I'm writing this review from my car where I've been sitting for going on 2.5 hours trying to leave. Pretty soon I'll have spent more time sitting in the parking lot trying to exit than at the fair itself. From previous reviews it seems like they've had this traffic problem before and done nothing to improve the situation. In all that time I've seen two people trying to direct traffic. While the fair itself was enjoyable I will never be coming back because this was not worth it.
Always a great time at the Ren. Fair. Buy your tickets ahead of time at Kroger - you'll save a few dollars per ticket. Lots of things to do - shows, shops, and a joust! Bring plenty of spending money, because you'll want to get a turkey leg or a Scottish egg... Or another one of the many delicious items on the menu. I highly recommend giving this place a try.
Over crowded, I know you like money just like every other business but when people's safety is a concern you should stop flow of customers until some leave.. people fell over my granddaughters stroller, so we carried her. My husband who is handicapped was unable to use the restroom do to too many people pushing and shoving.. I had to block the doorway to outhouse to ensure his safety.. I seen four older women on Amigo's hovering around a sign for safety from the crowd. It was totally crazy.. thank God there was not a fire or emergency that caused an evacuation, people with disabilities or children would have been trampled.. Even when we left after 1 hour employees dressed in costume pushed in front of us to go to their break, and yes they worked there because they said " we don't have long and have to get back to our jobs". Totally and completely disappointed in your fair. We will not be wasting another $100 plus to go there for an hour. The only good thing was the Oakland county Police that made the idiot's that cut the line to get in go to the back of the three mile wait.
